The planning and design of Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou University Town is closely associated with the landscape structure system of the overall city. It forms a complete network system with its neighboring universities through such function network like education, science research and living and connection with roads and green belt.

The gate is situated at the north of the center of the university town, a position with the widest river surface. The Sun Yat-Sen memorial park by the river is an extension of the internal space of the old school. The memorial archway by the river corresponds to the one of the old school by the Pearl River. The library, public classrooms, administration building and their surrounding buildings are the campus’s landmark buildings. The green square with Sun Yat-Sen statue situated in the middle and the wide pearl river scenery are very impressive and reflects an academic atmosphere of rigorous scholarship and innovation courage. In the teaching area, the three hills reserved look naturally perfect with the square situated in the middle and the open music hall situated at the end. The buildings were established near hills with wood and hills on the back, giving a tranquil environment for students to study. It is an ecological campus with beautiful hilly landscape. The living area emphasizes eco-environment and was built by water and hills with dining room and club. Like the old school, brownish red is the main building color. The overall architectural design is stable and modern, embodying the school’s cultural deposits.
